I'm still thinking about how rich I want to make the content here. I have been blogging for a little over a year at
Bob's Personal Blog. As I get time, I will copy some of the biographical stuff here. I may make this the home of my podcast related blog entries.
Some Details...
In all of my years, I have traveled many roads. I am the offspring of divorced parents that were extremely bitter and conflictual. I moved a lot in childhood and never completed high school. I entered my first marriage at a very young age and joined the US Air Force at 18. I spent the next 11 years doing the following:
- Avionics
- Fathered 2 children
- Earned Bachelors Degree (Summa Cum Laude)
- Earned Masters Degree (Summa Cum Laude)
- Divorced
- Remarried
Then, off to Virginia Tech to start work on Ph.D. I didn't finish my dissertation, but I did do an internship with IBM. I got caught programming. And, walla walla, career change. The next few years brought:
- Divorce
- Entry to computer science career
- Marriage (finally to right person)
- Another child
Now, I work in a large corporation as a software architect. My work keeps me heavily engaged in all layers of software development from the web to the host. I also chair my division's open source steering committee. All of these areas of my life will surely influence all my posts.
